Welcome

My name is Peter Tierney, and I am a geologist and paleoecologist, most recently at the University of Chicago, where I completed my Ph.D, advised by Dr.Susan Kidwell. With my current research, I am critically examining the developing physical structure of reefs and bioherms in deep time, and picking apart the long term effects of novel reef structures on ecology and evolution within the reef system.

I work primarily in the Ordovician and Devonian carbonates of Eastern and South-Central North America, but also have experience with the sedimentology and ecology of modern and Pleistocene reef and rocky shore environments.
